    Homefarm uses 25L of water and 18KWh of Electricity per month. The running cost is therefore approximately R30 per month.

  • Does Homefarm come with a warranty?

    Homefarm comes with a 1 year warranty. Should one of the functional components fail within the first year, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost to the user. Please see the warranty section of our Terms and Conditions Policy document for more information.

  • How do I dispose of a Grow Mat?

    Seed Mats are 100% biodegradable. They can therefore be disposed of in a compost heap or they can simply be thrown in the bin.

    Grow Packs, including Grow Mats and Seeds are available to buy from the Shop page of the Homefarm website and are delivered within a week of ordering. Each box contains 4 grow mats and seed packs.

  • How long does it take to grow my crops?

    It takes between 2 – 3 weeks for a crop to be ready for harvest depending on the crop type.

  • How much produce will I get?

    The Homefarm appliance can grow up to 400 grams of crops per month from a single Homefarm. More than enough for an individual or small family. For hungrier appetites or larger families, you can always stack and connect up to three Homefarms together.

  • How do I set up my Homefarm?

    Setting up your Homefarm appliance takes no more than 5 minutes. All you have to do is set it on a level surface like a counter-top, plug it in, switch it on and follow the simple instructions given to you in the instruction manual provided with the product. Don’t forget to download the Homefarm app which can guide you through the set-up process too!

Troubleshooting and Maintenance

  • Do you have a physical office or shop?

    We have a studio in Milpark Johannesburg. You are welcome to visit us, however visits and collections are by appointment only. Email us at info@myhomefarm.io to book a visit.

  • Does my Homefarm need any maintenance?

    Your Homefarm appliance does require some maintenance. Most importantly the water sump needs to be topped up approximately once per week, and it is also important that the inside of your Homefarm is kept clean. This requires that the inside of your Homefarm be wiped down with a low concentration soap solution once every 2 - 4 weeks. Your Homefarm will notify you when the sump needs to be topped up.

    Your Homefarm appliance does require some maintenance.     Review the instructional guide provided with the product for self-diagnosis of the problem and or recommended fixes. If the problem cannot be easily and quickly resolved by you, you may book a call with a technician on the phone, facetime or Skype. The technician will try and diagnose the problem with you on the line remotely. If the problem can be resolved over the phone and the fix does not call for a new part, the technician will attempt to talk you through the fix on the call then and there. If the fix requires a new part, the part will be sent to you in the post and a technician will talk you through the replacement of the part over the phone.

    We have a repair facility in Johannesburg and accept walk in repair enquiries for customers in Gauteng.

    My Homefarm can analyse and collect data regarding the usage of the product. This data includes things like when the product is on, as well as temperature and humidity levels within the product.

    Pre-orders may be cancelled up to 8 weeks before shipment date. We will notify you one week before this window of opportunity closes.

    If the balance is not paid your order will not be shipped and the R1000 deposit will be forfeited.

    When placing a pre-order, a deposit of R1000 is required. The balance of the payment will be requested 7 weeks before the due shipment date with a 1 week window of time to make the payment.
